In 2006, the National Coatings & Supplies (NCS) founders, led by O. Temple Sloan Jr., knew it was time to focus on paint.  Starting with the lessons learned from 40+ years of operating General Parts Inc (GPI)/Carquest serving the automotive aftermarket segment driven by the core values of people, enthusiasm, desire to succeed, and above all, taking care of the customer, the team set out to create a company to meet the unique needs of collision repair centers.

The entrepreneurial spirit that started GPI in 1961 carried over into NCS in 2006. Leveraging the blueprint used to build GPI, NCS began to merge with leading distributors across the US that shared the same values to grow the network of stores needed to service the nation’s collision repair centers properly.

From 17 stores in 2006 to merging with Single Source Inc. (SSI) in 2016 and adding our 200th store in 2024, NCS SSI has been and will remain a family-owned and management-owned company. NCS SSI is also a family of companies, with each new company bringing NCS SSI the best of its team, making us all better.

NCS SSI’s expansion in locations opened the door to leverage our growing footprint to serve new customers requiring industrial paint. True to the company’s entrepreneurial mindset, our team embraced the opportunity to service companies painting everything and anything: oil and gas extraction equipment, trailers, metal fabricators, agricultural equipment, commercial vehicles, military coatings, and aerospace refinishing.

To remain true to our primary goal of taking care of the customer, NCS SSI continues to evolve with our customers by adding new teams to our network and through various innovative solutions developed specifically for our customers.
